Another must see place to visit in Kolkata is the Fort William situated at the banks of the River Hooghly. The clear area around the fort is known as the Maidan where exhibitions and fairs are conducted regularly. The foundation of the old fort is well-preserved and is a military area now. The arsenal inside it is worth visiting, but prior permission of the commanding officer is needed to visit the arsenal inside.

Eden Garden of Kolkata is the oldest cricket play ground in the country and is a major tourist attraction. Birla Planetarium is the biggest museum in Asia which was established in the year 1962. It conducts astronomical presentations along with useful pieces of information regarding our solar system, galaxies, life span of stars, space, planets and other heavenly bodies in the most interactive manner by making use of audio and video aids.
